I view neurodiversity as a natural part of human diversity rather than something that needs to be fixed or changed. I believe each person is the expert on their own life, and I strive to affirm and support their unique perspectives, strengths, and lived experiences.
I try to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, flexible, and adaptable so people can feel free to show up as themselves and engage in ways that work best for them. Practically, this might include providing tools that support stimming and regulation, being mindful of sensory needs such as lighting or fidgets, adapting communication styles, and being open to change when something isn’t working.
Education & Experience :
I am a late-identified ADH(D)er, which has informed both my personal understanding of neurodivergence and my work as a therapist. I have ten years of experience working in mental health and family support settings, and over four years of experience providing counselling to children, youth, adults, and families. Throughout my career, I have worked with neurodivergent clients across the lifespan, supporting individuals navigating ADH(D), Autism, OCD, emotional regulation challenges, executive functioning differences, trauma, identity exploration, and anxiety and depression.
Approach & Modalities:
I tend to draw from mindfulness-based and somatic approaches, play-based and narrative therapies, and cognitive-behavioural and solution-focused techniques as appropriate. I adapt my approach collaboratively based on each client's unique needs, goals, and preferences. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centred care.
Communication Style:
I am warm, empathetic, and validating, while also offering gentle challenge and encouragement when it supports growth. I check in regularly about what's working, what's not, and how we can adjust our work together.
I strive to meet clients where they are and adapt my approach to their unique needs, preferences, and goals. I welcome feedback and value flexibility, creativity, and curiosity in the therapeutic process. When helpful, I incorporate humour, movement, visuals, and other experiential strategies to support learning, self-expression, and connection.
Fun Facts or Interests:
My hobbies include reading, creative writing, yoga, rock climbing, hiking, spending time in nature, and trying to keep up with my one-year-old!
