Caregiver & Parent Counselling
Specialized therapy support for parents of Neurodivergent Children

Support for Caregivers
At The Neurodiversity Family Centre, we offer compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming counselling and parenting support for individual parents and caregivers in Victoria BC and online throughout Canada. Whether your child has ADHD, is autistic, is exploring a possible diagnosis, or simply needs a different approach, we can help you understand your family’s needs and find practical ways forward. A formal diagnosis is not required.
Support for You as a Parent or Caregiver
You may be carrying school concerns, family responsibilities, and the ongoing work of advocating for your child. Our sessions give you space to explore your own experiences, receive support, and develop approaches that feel manageable in everyday life.
Together, we can work on:
-
Managing parenting stress, overwhelm, and feelings of burnout
-
Understanding your child’s communication, sensory, and executive functioning needs
-
Supporting emotional regulation while caring for your own nervous system
-
Navigating conflict, boundaries, and everyday demands
-
Adjusting routines, expectations, and environments to better support your family
-
Building confidence in advocating for your child at school and in the community
-
Strengthening connection with your child, teen, or young adult
Parenting Support That Affirms Neurodiversity
Every family includes different ways of thinking, communicating, learning, and experiencing the world. Our approach respects those differences and explores what they mean for your relationships and daily life.
We work with you to understand the needs beneath difficult moments, recognize strengths, and identify barriers. That may involve making expectations clearer, reducing sensory demands, adapting routines, or finding ways to communicate that work better for both you and your child.
If you are neurodivergent yourself, sessions can also make room for your own support needs and the experience of parenting someone whose needs may overlap with—or differ from—your own.
Build Connection and Find a More Sustainable Way Forward
Our goal is to help you develop greater understanding, self-compassion, and confidence in your parenting. Together, we’ll explore strategies that support your capacity and create more opportunities for connection within your family.
You can attend parenting support sessions on your own. The focus is on supporting you and helping you identify changes you can make within your relationships and environment.
