Emotional regulation and overwhelming feelings
-
Self-esteem, self-compassion, and perfectionism
-
Friendships, peer relationships, and belonging
-
Life changes and family transitions

Learning challenges, procrastination, and executive functioning
-
Understanding ADHD, autism, and individual support needs
A Neurodiversity Affirming Approach
Our approach respects different ways of thinking, learning, communicating, and experiencing the world. Together, the client and practitioner explore your child’s strengths, interests, and support needs, including changes to their environment that may make daily life more manageable.
Strategies are adapted to the individual. These may include movement, sensory supports, visual tools, manageable steps, and practising how to ask for help.

Requirements When Working with Children
A. Consent from all legal guardians is required for child & youth counselling services unless otherwise legally stated. We require a copy of custody/parent agreements when applicable.
B. Parent(s) are required to engage in a parental intake sessions prior to initiating counselling with a youth and required to engage in ongoing parental support.
Parent sessions help our practitioners get a fuller picture of what is going on for the youth, allow us time to address parent concerns, provide neurodiversity affirming psychoeducation and to share strategies in order to help youth and families in feeling more connected, supported and in reaching their mutual goals.
For youth ages 5-10 we require consistent parental engagement in counselling sessions (either 1:1 or family sessions).
For youth ages 11+ we require, at minimum, a parent engagement sessions every two to three months.
