Adult Therapy

Understanding your needs, navigating relationships, and managing everyday demands can feel overwhelming—especially if you’ve spent years feeling misunderstood or trying to meet expectations that don’t fit.

At The Neurodiversity Family Centre, we offer neurodiversity-affirming individual counselling for adults in Victoria, BC, and online throughout Canada. You do not need to be neurodivergent to receive care! We support all adults and specialize in working with neurodivergent adults such as those experiencing ADHD, autism, other areas of neurodivergence and people exploring their neurodivergence. A formal diagnosis is not required.

You can bring your questions, challenges, strengths, and goals into counselling without having everything figured out first.

Support for Your Mental Health and Everyday Life

Your experiences and priorities guide our work together. You may be seeking support for a particular concern or looking for space to better understand yourself.

Adult counselling can help you explore:

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

  • ADHD-related challenges with planning, organization, and starting tasks

  • Autistic experiences, sensory needs, and navigating social expectations

  • Burnout, exhaustion, and sustainable boundaries

  • Depression

  • Self-esteem, shame, and perfectionism

  • Relationships, communication, and belonging

  • Identity and adjusting to a late diagnosis or recognition of neurodivergence

  • Work, education, and life transitions

  • Self-advocacy and asking for support

  • And other areas of mental health

Counselling That Respects How Your Brain Works

Neurodiversity-affirming counselling recognizes different ways of thinking, communicating, learning, and experiencing the world. We take your experiences seriously and explore how your environment, relationships, and expectations affect your well-being.

Together, we can identify strengths, understand barriers, and develop approaches that fit your needs. That might include adapting routines, exploring sensory supports, communicating boundaries, or working through the emotional impact of feeling misunderstood.

Your preferences matter. We work collaboratively to find a pace and approach that supports your participation.

Exploring ADHD or Autism in Adulthood

Recognizing yourself in descriptions of neurodivergence can bring relief, uncertainty, grief, or new questions about your past. Counselling offers space to explore what this understanding means for you and how you want to move forward.

You do not need a diagnosis to access support. Our counselling services focus on your experiences and well-being; we do not provide diagnostic assessments.

Support That Includes Your Whole Identity

Neurodivergence is one part of your experience. Your relationships, culture, gender, sexuality, health, and life circumstances also deserve consideration.

We welcome and affirm 2SLGBTQIA+ adults and support you in exploring what matters to you, including how different parts of your identity intersect.
