I believe neurodivergent children do best when they feel understood, safe, and supported rather than pressured to mask who they are. My approach focuses on building emotional safety, self-understanding, confidence, and supportive relationships while honouring each child’s unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world.
Experience with Neurodivergence, Parenting, or Other Relevant Experience for Your Specializations:
I have been working with children and families since 2009 and have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent elementary and middle school-aged students, particularly autistic children and those with ADH(D). Since 2011, I have worked as a school counsellor at Discovery School, supporting students with emotional regulation, anxiety, peer relationships, self-esteem, and school-related stress.
I also work closely with families and educators to strengthen communication, support collaborative problem-solving, and help create supportive environments both at home and at school. I value helping caregivers better understand behaviour through a compassionate and relationship-based lens.
Approach & Modalities:
My approach is collaborative, relationship-based, and strengths-focused. I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves and can build trust at their own pace. I use humour, creativity, flexibility, and practical strategies while following the child’s lead and supporting their individual needs and goals.
Communication Style:
I am calm, approachable, and practical in my work with children and families. I focus on helping children feel comfortable quickly and value open communication and collaboration with parents, caregivers, and schools.
Fun Facts or Interests:
Outside of counselling, I enjoy coaching baseball and being involved in Little League. I also enjoy watching movies (and eating popcorn!), spending time with my family, and playing games like Wobbly Life and LEGO Star Wars with my kids. Specialized Trainings & Certifications:
