Creative Connections Group

Friendship • Self-Understanding • Self-Advocacy

Join us in person at our downtown Victoria location for Creative Connections! This is a neurodiversity-affirming social group designed to support children and youth in building meaningful relationships while engaging in calming, hands-on creative activities. The group recognizes that there is no single “right” way to communicate, socialize, or regulate emotions.

Through art-based experiences and meditation in motion (using busy hands to support calm minds) participants explore self-expression, emotional regulation, and connection in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.

This group prioritizes psychological safety and belonging, creating space for participants to unmask, communicate in ways that feel natural to them, and engage socially without pressure to conform to neurotypical expectations.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  • Engage in creative activities that support regulation, focus, and self-expression

  • Develop awareness of sensory needs and explore supportive regulation strategies

  • Connect with peers through shared interests and collaborative experiences

  • Strengthen confidence in social participation at their own pace

  • Practice using meditation in motion as a self-regulation strategy

Participants will:

  • Practice self-advocacy and autonomy in a supportive environment

  • Experience turn-taking and shared participation in flexible, low-demand ways

  • Engage in activities that support emotional-regulation and well-being

  • Build understanding and respect for differing communication and interaction styles

  • Explore friendships, including initiating, maintaining, and navigating relationships

  • Develop trust and connection through shared creative experiences

The goal of the group is not to change how participants socialize, but to support authentic and genuine connection, confidence, and well-being while honouring individual neurotypes and identities.
