I believe that neurodiversity is an essential and valuable part of human diversity. There is no one “right” way to think, learn, communicate, or experience the world. All neurotypes bring unique strengths, insights, and perspectives that enrich our communities and relationships.

My practice is grounded in the understanding that you are not broken — you are whole. I

work to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where differences are honoured,

authenticity is celebrated, and all ways of being are respected.

Experience:

My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience as a neurodivergent person and parent of neurodivergent children. Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over two decades in arts and alternative education, supporting children, youth, and young adults through individualized learning programs, IEP development, and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. Since 2022, my counselling practice has focused on providing neurodivergent-affirming, strengths-based support for individuals, couples, parents, and caregivers. These experiences allow me to approach each client with empathy, creativity, and a deep respect for their unique ways of learning, processing, and being.

Approach & Modalities:

My counselling approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and neurodivergent-affirming. I work from a non-pathologizing and trauma-informed lens, meeting each client where they are and honouring their unique communication, processing, and learning styles. I believe therapy works best when it’s flexible and creative, adapting to fit the client rather than asking the client to fit the therapy.

I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities, including Neurodivergent Somatics, Truly Inclusive Spaces therapy, polyvagal theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and expressive arts approaches. My goal is to support clients in developing self-understanding, emotional regulation, and authentic communication while creating systems and environments that align with their sensory, emotional, and relational needs.

Communication Style:

My communication style is warm, validating, and collaborative. I listen deeply and approach each person with curiosity, respect, and genuine care. I recognize that people communicate and process information in different ways, and I adapt my approach to meet those needs — using visual, written, or auditory supports as helpful. I value clear, compassionate, and flexible communication, and strive to create a space where clients feel safe to express themselves authentically and at their own pace.

Fun Facts & Interests:

Outside of my counselling work, I love spending time in nature — hiking, beachcombing, stargazing, and paddleboarding are some of my favourite ways to recharge. Music has always been a big part of my life; for over two decades, I’ve been a choir director, singer, and songwriter, and I find that creative expression continues to influence how I connect with and support others. I also have a background in theatre and creative writing, and I bring that same creativity and curiosity into my counselling practice.
