I believe neurodivergent people deserve to be understood rather than changed. My role is to provide a connecting and affirming space where clients can explore their experiences without judgment, build on their strengths, and develop strategies that genuinely fit who they are and how they move through the world.
Experience:
I have over six years of experience working in mental health across community, crisis, youth mental health, hospice, and counselling settings. Throughout my career, I have supported neurodivergent children, youth, and adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, grief, depression, emotional regulation challenges, school difficulties, and life transitions. I also have experience providing one on one community support for an autistic adult, helping them build independence, navigate daily life, and accomplish various goals they had set out. As someone with lived experience of ADHD and OCD, I know firsthand how challenging these experiences can be, as well as how meaningful and life changing the right support can be. I have studied AutPlay Therapy and am also continuing my lifelong learning in neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-informed practice.
Approach & Modalities:
My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I draw from person-centred therapy, CBT, parts-based work, grief-informed approaches, mindfulness, and play-based approaches. I tailor therapy to each person's unique needs and believe the best therapy is flexible, collaborative, and centred around what works best for you.
Communication Style:
I'm warm, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I check in regularly to make sure sessions feel helpful and adjust my approach based on what works best for you. I believe therapy should feel human. While I take the work seriously, I don't think counselling needs to feel overly formal.
Fun Facts or Interests:
I love spending time outdoors hiking and sailing. I am also into reading, playing video games, and tinkering with mechanical watches.
