Shannon is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who believes that her work is part of the change this world needs to be more inclusive and affirming of neurodivergence. Shannon is a self-identified neurodivergent counsellor and parent to a neurodivergent child. She is passionate about advocating for systemic changes to better appreciate, support, and empower neurodivergent minds in a world that is often challenging for us to live in.

Shannon’s ancestors were early settlers on Turtle Island. Shannon was raised around the traditional lands of the Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish, Musqueam, and Stó:lō people (Greater Vancouver) and has made her home for the past two decades on the lands of the W̱SÁNEĆ people on the Saanich Peninsula north of Victoria. Shannon feels a deep connection to the soil, sand, and sea. Having spent extended time living overseas, Shannon knows that we are deeply privileged to live in this corner of the world and with that comes the responsibility to take care of the land and the sea for the generations who follow us. Shannon believes that caring for the planet and for others begins with caring for ourselves.

Shannon is a mother to two young humans and has a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and chronic pain. This lived experience informs her interest in perinatal mental health and reproductive grief, loss, and trauma (miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, infertility), as well as parental mental health, stress, burnout, and family systems.

Shannon works from an anti-oppressive, liberatory, and trauma-informed lens. This means that she believes you are the expert in your own life and that you have done the best you can up to this point.  She works collaboratively with you to help you build upon your inner and outer strengths to find change and purpose in your life. Her therapeutic approaches include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Narrative therapy.
