Navigating life transitions
I aime to co-create inclusive, compassionate spaces for all brains and I approach my work with all clients from a neurodivergent affirming perspective, valuing each individual's life story and unique path that makes them human. I operate from a client-centred approach, meaning that I work collaboratively with each person to explore their individual goals, challenges and strengths. Cultivating a safe, calm and judgement-free space, I tailor counselling around the client's specific needs to offer tangible and realistic change strategies in a supportive atmosphere.
Experience & Education:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor who specializes in working with individuals, couples and families (16+). As a previous youth and family worker, I bring over twelve years of experience helping to support neurodivergent youth and families navigate public health and education systems walking alongside them every step of the way. Now, as an RCC, I work in a different capacity helping to support clients, specializing in anxiety, emotional regulation, relational dynamics, trauma, self-esteem, grief and major life transitions.
Approach & Modalities:
I use a variety of approaches and therapy models as a counsellor because I truly believe ‘one size does not fit all.’ I speak to each client about the various approaches that I am trained in and we work collaboratively to find the best path forward, together. I draw from and am trained in Internal Family Systems, Somatic Attachment Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Communication Style:
I bring who I am as a person into my professional work. I am curious, conversational, warm, expressive, direct and validating. I meet clients where they are and take time to get to know each individual person that I sit with. I am creative in my approach and will often draw on visuals, mindfulness, humour, analogy, metaphor and curiosity to deepen sessions when appropriate.
Fun Facts or Interests:
I am a lifelong learner, avid traveller, lover of animals and an avid snowboarder.
