I recognize neurodivergent traits as important aspects of individuality and honour each person’s story, values, and beliefs, and see my role as walking alongside individuals in their journeys rather than leading the way.
Experience & Relevant Experience:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with almost two years of practice and over five years of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals across schools, counselling settings, day programs, and residential care. I have worked with children, teens, adults, and families, supporting my clients with their everyday challenges and more complex needs.
Alongside my professional experience, I have lived experience as a family member of someone with ADH(D) which has deepened my understanding of the strengths, challenges, and resilience that comes along with being a neurodivergent person. I have supported autistic individuals, persons with ADH(D), learning differences, intellectual disabilities, co-occurring mental health challenges, and trauma. I am passionate about helping people develop strategies for regulation, communication, and coping while building on their strengths and values. I value a family-centred and collaborative approach, where strategies are developed together to support meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Although I do not provide ABA therapy, I have worked closely with individuals and families who have received or are currently receiving ABA services. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, strength-based, and client centered counselling practices. Rather than focusing on changing behaviors, I prioritize celebrating each individual's unique strengths, fostering autonomy, and supporting growth in ways that affirm their identity and well-being.
Approach & Modalities:
I work from a collaborative, client-centred, strengths-based and solution-focused perspective. I integrate trauma-informed, somatic, and regulation-focused strategies, as well as creative and experiential methods, to support personal growth and well-being. Sessions are guided by consent, curiosity, and compassion, with the client at the forefront.
Communication Style:
I tailor communication to each person’s preferences and needs to create a safe, empowering space for expression and I approach every interaction with empathy, compassion, collaboration, and a focus on validation.
Fun Facts and Interests:
I enjoy spending time at the beach with my dog, Henry, going for walks or runs, reading, and being outdoors.
