Danielle has a wide ranging background spanning twenty years supporting children, youth and families in various roles including working in the school system, social work and child and youth mental health.
Danielle loves to connect with children and parents to understand their unique experiences, strengths, and goals. She practices using an integrative approach because she believes in tailoring support to meet the strengths, needs and goals of each individual client. Danielle has training in CBT, DBT and EMDR. Danielle’s practice is also informed by ACT, IFS and Play Therapy. Danielle believes that there are many paths to healing and increasing wellness and the foundation of her practice is strength-based and person centred. Much of the focus of Danielle’s work is in strengthening self-concept and self-esteem, enhancing positive family communication and attachments, and teaching and supporting clients to learn and practice self-regulation and coping strategies.
Danielle has a degree in Child and Youth Care and an MA of Counselling Psychology. Danielle has lived experience with ADHD and is a parent with children in a blended family. Danielle loves to bring creativity and humour to her work wherever possible. She often incorporates expressive modalities such as art into therapy as it is neurologically soothing and enhances self-expression.
